Going on trips is the best! You get away for a bit and get to relax. But sometimes it's not possible to get away for a week or even a weekend. Well, don't rule out the idea of taking a trip yet! You can still take a day trip, one of the best trips of all time!

You don't need to pay for a hotel, you can have a day out and about, but get to go home at the end of the day and sleep in your own bed!

Here are the best day trips in Southern Minnesota to make this spring your best spring yet!

Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail

This is a SUPER long trail, but don't worry, there are multiple places to enter and exit. There are little towns along the way and beautiful scenery! If you need some motivation, at the end of the trail there's an awesome little ice cream shop. A sweet reward!

Rochester Wine Trolley Tour

All of you fellow wine-os, head over to Rochester and hop on the wine trolley tour! Sample wines from several different vineyards, and let someone else drive so you can drink all the wine you want!

Root River

One of my favorite things to do: hopping on a tube and floating down a river. It's like a giant lazy river at a water park! That's exactly what you can do at the Root River. Stop at Root River Outfitters in Lanesboro to rent a tube and spend the day floating down the river.

Barn Bluff

Another amazing hiking day trip, this one will reward you with picturesque views! Once you reach the top of Barn Bluff you get a gorgeous view of Red Wing, the Mississippi, and Lake Pepin.

Hokah Pool

Surrounded by the rolling hills of the town of Hokah, this pool is not like any other: it's a spring-fed pool! Who wouldn't want to go out for a swim in a freshwater pool with a sandy bottom?
