Another Downtown Business Just Closed For Good Here in Minnesota
It's a development we don't like to see, but another downtown business in this Minnesota city has closed its doors for good.
Downtown areas in many Minnesota cities were hit hard by the pandemic, as workers packed up and headed for home-- many of whom haven't yet come back. And so, news of businesses closing in many downtown areas sadly isn't new these days.
And so it is with this business in downtown Rochester. The UPS Store, located on West Center Street across the street from Mayo Clinic's Eisenberg Building, home to Mayo's Methodist Hospital campus, has closed its doors for good.

The sign on the window of the storefront appeared late last week, saying that the UPS Store is now permanently closed. 'Closing location' is what the sign reads, along with directions to another Rochester UPS Store location.
Then, interestingly, there's another sign posted on the door that states just WHY the UPS Store is closing: Because the owner is moving to Alaska!
Here's the text of the handwritten sign explaining the closing:
"The time I was able to serve you has been a valuable and enriching experience. I am going to Alaska to build a life for my daughter and me. If you would like to follow my adventure, find me at www.alaskanhavoc.com."
Now THAT is something you don't hear every day! Good luck in your Alaskan adventure, Havoc! And if you're looking to ship a package or pick up a UPS shipment in Rochester, you'll now apparently have to use the other UPS store locations at either 1529 Highway-14 East (just east of Marion Road) or along Highway-52 near Best Buy at 3936 East Frontage Road.
And while we're on the topic of business closings, keep scrolling to check out a list of some of the other businesses that have recently shut their doors in Minnesota's third-largest city, as well.
