When it comes down to it, attractiveness is subjective, making it nearly impossible to measure an area's 'good looks.' However, that didn't stop Zippia from taking a crack at it.

When researchers at Zippia presented this question, they determined a way to measure beauty, and I hate to say it, but Minnesota did not break the top ten.

In terms of attractiveness, Minnesota took 19th place. That's above average. We can at least celebrate that!

And what's really important to note is that we are bounds ahead of our Midwest neighbors. North Dakota ranked in 30th place, South Dakota in 27th, Iowa in 38th, and Wisconsin in 33rd.

Zippia based their study on five factors:

  • Interest in hair, clothes, and other grooming
  • Obesity rates
  • Percent of physically active residents
  • Average Income
  • STD rates (this one is a bit odd to me)

Based on those factors, you may be wondering, who on earth could possibly beat us??

Top Ten Most Attractive States:

  1. New Jersey (Have they seen the MTV show Jersey Shore? Personally, I'm not convinced.)
  2. Hawaii
  3. California
  4. Massachusetts
  5. New York
  6. Colorado
  7. Connecticut
  8. Rhode Island
  9. Alaska
  10. Arizona

Perhaps the reason I don't have a significant other is that I've been living in the wrong state! It's time to move to (of all places) New Jersey.

Carrying out the bottom of the list includes Oklahoma at 45th, South Carolina at 46th, Arkansas at 47th, Alabama at 48th, Missouri at 49th, and Mississippi at 50th.
