Body Found in Burned Up Car at Rural Kenyon Residence
Kenyon, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that human remains were discovered in a burned up vehicle parked outside a rural Kenyon after a fire was reported at the residence on New Year’s Eve.
A news release indicates firefighters from the Kenyon Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 45000 block of Highway 56 Boulevard, just north of Kenyon, around 6:15 Thursday evening. The victim was discovered shortly after their arrival at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office says the homeowners and other residents of the home have been accounted for. The Southern Minnesota Medical Examiner’s Office was asked to perform an autopsy to identify the deceased and determine the cause of death.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. An investigator from the State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene to assist the Sheriff’s Office with that part of the investigation.
