Brandi Carlile Busks With Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl in Seattle [Watch]
On Saturday (Apr. 20), Brandi Carlile, along with rocker Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, surprised a crowd at Seattle's Pike Place Market by giving an impromptu show.
According to the Seattle Times, Carlile and Grohl played for around 20 minutes, including songs by the Beatles (“Let It Be”) and the Foo Fighters (“Times Like These”), and did not speak directly to fans nor explain why they decided to grant the off-the-cuff performance.
Carlile did, however, give notice to fans who follow her social media. Prior to the busking, she posted a photo of herself with Grohl to Instagram, saying "So.... rumor has it we’re maybe going busking at Pike place right now... see you soon fish!!"
Those who took her seriously were rewarded, indeed. Carlile, who is from Seattle, posted a snippet of the performance, noting, "Busking at Pike Place Market. Right where it all started so many years ago. Super special guest: Dave Grohl." The singer is known for having launched her career busking in the city before signing her first record deal.
Carlile has been a star in the Americana genre for a number of years, having come to wider recognition with a remarkable sweep at the 2019 Grammy Awards earlier this year. Most recently, she performed a duet, "Travelin' Light," with Dierks Bentley at the Apr. 7 Academy of Country Music Awards to an adoring audience.
