A surprising e-mail was received by Century High School families with an immediate change to the principal position.  Last week, I learned through social media that Principal Chris Fogarty was placed on non-disciplinary leave after a complaint was made against him.  I reached out to Rochester Public Schools to verify and that original story can be found here.  As a parent, it shocked me to learn that my kids' principal was on leave and I received zero communication from our district.

Tonight, families did receive communication from our district as we learned that effective immediately a new principal was in place for our students.  A decision was made during the Rochester Public Schools school board meeting on February 2nd and the following communication was sent out via e-mail:

Dear Century Families,

This evening, the School Board approved an administrative change effective beginning immediately for Century High School. Chris Fogarty has accepted a reassignment to an Elementary Assistant Principal position.

Nancy Denzer, who retired from the District in 2018 as the principal of Willow Creek Middle School, and previously served 19 years at RPS will serve as the interim principal the remainder of the school year at Century. Nancy is excited to return to work with students, families, and staff during this transition.

Nancy will be sharing an introduction email with families this week.

Sincerely,

Michael Munoz

Superintendent

Personally, I have a child at Century High School, and although I understand data privacy and the issues related to that, I am disappointed in our district and the lack of communication to families regarding this change in leadership.  It's just my opinion, but tonight's e-mail should not have been the first e-mail we received.

What do you think about the communication in the Rochester Public Schools? Is it enough or do you expect more?  Let me know by sending me a message over on my Facebook page (Jessica On The Radio) or DM me on Instagram.
