Byron Couple Facing Child Abuse Charges; Girl Had Two Fractures

Byron,, MN (KROC-AM News) - Criminal charges have been filed against a Byron couple in a child abuse case.

The case involves a girl under the age of 4 who was diagnosed with a broken wrist and leg fracture last year.

Named in the case are 27-year-old Gilbert Zziwa and 24-year-old Alissa Englund.

Zziwa has been charged with 3rd-degree assault and malicious punishment of a child, both felonies. Englund has been charged with aiding and abetting 3rd-degree assault and neglect of a child.

The criminal complaint indicates the incident happened in November and included other injuries.
