Can Honking Give You Permission To Pass A Rochester Driver?

The answer to this driving rule might surprise you!

We've all been frustrated with "slow poke" drivers in Rochester in the passing lane before, right? I was shocked to learn that, legally, you can actually honk at them - and they then have to move to the right lane. Who knew!?

A photo that I found on the Minnesota section of Reddit proves that this statute is real!

Minnesota Statute Chapter 169.18 says if you're driving in the passing lane and an overtaking vehicle approaches from behind and honks, you are required to move right for the faster vehicle. from r/minnesota

Something about this seems a little harsh to me, but thankfully no one has done it to me yet.

It appears that you cannot increase your speed (if you're in the right lane) until the honking vehicle passes you either. I didn't know that! Did you?
