Charges Filed in Wreck That Killed Owatonna Woman
Owatonna, MN (KROC AM News) – A Twin Cities man has been charged with manslaughter for causing a traffic wreck that claimed the life of an Owatonna woman.
A criminal complaint was filed Monday in Steele County court against 29-year-old Hashim Siddiq of Blaine. It charges him with 2nd-degree manslaughter, criminal vehicular operation, and reckless driving.
Siddiq was driving a semi-truck on Highway 14 near Claremont February 2nd when he crashed into a car while trying to pass another vehicle. The car he collided with was driven by 58-year-old Todd Anderson of Owatonna, who suffered serious injuries. Anderson's wife Allison was killed.
A State Patrol investigator determined the primary factor in the deadly wreck was “unsafe passing during heavy fog.” The complaint also indicates Siddiq was still classified as a “student driver” and another driver was with him at the time.
Siddiq has been ordered to make his first court appearance July 29th.
