Douglas, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota DNR are investigating the shooting death of a rural couple’s dog.

The dog disappeared from the couple's Douglas area home Saturday and was found dead by its owners on a neighbor’s property Sunday. The owners of the dog live in the 8000 block of 85th St NW.

Sheriff’s Capt. Jim Schueller says the dog had apparently been shot by someone who had been hunting on a neighbor’s property and its body appeared to have been dragged to a ravine. A deputy was called by the couple after the dog was found and the DNR was also contacted.

Schueller says the investigation continues and it could lead to a criminal case against the person who shot the dog. He says it could also become a civil case.
