Check Your Freezer: Jimmy Dean Sausage Recall Could Affect Minnesota
The latest in what seems to be a never-ending stream of food recalls could now affect your breakfast.
That's because this latest recall affects Jimmy Dean Sausage, and health officials worry that this food could still in your freezer. According to this Food Safety News story, Jimmy Dean's parent company, CTI Foods, is recalling nearly 30,000 pounds of a particular Jimmy Dean brand sausage links.
The USDA Food Safety Inspection Service says consumers in Kentucky have been complaining about finding pieces of metal in Jimmy Dean 'HEAT ’n SERVE Original SAUSAGE LINKS Made with Pork & Turkey.'
The links in question were originally produced on August 4th and have a use-by date of January 31, 2019-- so they still could be tucked away in your freezer. They say you should throw them away or return them to the store where you bought them.
Here's more information on the suspect sausages, courtesy of the USDA FSIS release:
+ 23.4-oz. pouches of “Jimmy Dean HEAT ’n SERVE Original SAUSAGE LINKS Made with Pork & Turkey”
+ Use By date of Jan. 31, 2019
+ Case code A6382168
+ Time stamp range of 11:58 through 01:49
The story said, though, that there haven't been any reports of sickness associated with this recall-- at least not yet. (It was just announced yesterday, after all...)
