You can check out the top 15 coldest cities in the country at the bottom of this story. Rochester is on the list and you know the cold weather will be here soon. This would be a good weekend to dig out your winter gear. If you find that you have coats that you aren't going to use consider donating them to the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army is trying to help people in need by collecting winter coats between  Oct. 16-25. There are several locations in town that are accepting donations including, Rochester Area Builders, Autumn Ridge Church, MinnWest Bank, Livea Weight Solutions, and Berean Community Church. Each will have a collection box in the entryway.  If your business or organization would like to collect coats additional collection boxes are available - contact the Salvation Army for more info.

Sweaters, light jackets, or fashionable hats/gloves will not be accepted. Please only donate coats that will keep people warm during the coldest months. All donated coats will be distributed from 9 am-4 pm on Friday, Oct. 23, at 20 First Avenue NE in Rochester,

Major Lisa Mueller, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army, said, "This year, the need has been, and will continue to be, greater. We are so grateful to our partners collecting coats, and ask that everyone look through their coat closets, and please consider donating their coats to people without.”
