Costco Stores in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin Raising Starting Wage to $16/Hour
If you've been looking for a job that pays well, according to USAToday.com, Costco just announced that their stores in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and other states in the U.S. will be increasing their minimum wage to $16 an hour. The announcement was made on Thursday at a U.S. Senate Budget Committee by Costco's CEO, Craig Jelinek.
"Since Costco's inception, the company has been committed to paying the employees very competitive retail wages and providing them broad and affordable health care benefits. Two years ago, we moved our starting hourly wage to $15 everywhere in the U.S. Effective next week, the starting wage will go to $16." - Craig Jelinek, CEO of Costco
According to the story, the CEO also stated that Costco employs 180,000 U.S. workers but the average wage for hourly workers is around $24 per hour.
