St paul (KROC AM News) -  Olmsted County now has the 2nd highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases of all counties in the state, trailing only Hennepin.

The Minnesota Dept. of Health Friday reported Olmsted County now has 76 cases, an increase of 10 from Thursday when the first local death was confirmed. The state death toll has increased to 22, an increase of 4 from Thursday.

The number of confirmed cases in the entire state has risen to 789 and just over half of the patients no longer need to be isolated.

The number of hospitalizations in the state as of Friday is 156 and 86 are still in the hospital with 40 in intensive care.  To date, 9 people have required hospitalization in Olmsted County.

The state is reporting over 24,000 tests have been conducted.
