Crock-Pot Recalling Nearly 1 Million Pressure Cookers
The company Crock-Pot is recalling almost 1 million pressure cookers after reports of the pressure cooker burning almost 100 people due to a lid issue. Hopefully you weren't planning on using one of these for your Thanksgiving dinner.
To be exact, 99 people (as of writing this) have been burned because of this pressure cooker. WCCO reports that the lid on the recalled pressure cookers will not lock in place properly causing the lid to possibly come loose. If that happens, hot steam, liquid, and food can spray everywhere and burn someone. Some people have reported as bad as third-degree burns.
The recall was issued on Tuesday. WCCO writes that the specific pressure cooker being recalled is the "6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers, with model number SCCPPC600-V1."
If this is the kind of pressure cooker you have then you should take a look at the date code. That is found on "one of the prongs of the electrical plug and on the bottom of the base." The pressure cookers being recalled will have the date code K196JN through K365JN and L001JN through L273JN.
Good news if you do have one of these pressure cookers, though! They ask that you reach out to Crock-Pot if you own the recalled product and they'll send you a free replacement lid. So you won't have to replace the whole thing! You can contact Crock-Pot at 800-323-9519 or recall.crockpot.com.
