UPDATE (7/13/20 5:27 PM): Authorities have identified the victim of the stabbing in Dartts Park in Owatonna and have released images of a person of interest being sought. READ MORE.

UPDATED: (7/13/20 11:05 AM): A Death was reported early Sunday evening at Dartts Park in Owatonna.

According to a Press Release from the Minnesota Office of Public Safety, Owatonna Police were called to scene of a reported stabbing around 5:30pm on Sunday, July 12th. Upon arrival, Owatonna PD located an unconscious man on the ground with what looked to be stab wounds.

Owatonna PD, Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service EMT's, and air ambulance personnel provided medial aid but the man was pronounce dead at the scene. He has been taken to the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office for identification and autopsy.

Law Enforcement and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) are asking anyone who may have witnessed or have any information about the stabbing to contact the Owatonna Police Department at 507-444-3800 or to dial 911

BCA personnel recovered two knives at the scene.

The Steele County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol and Mayo Clinic Ambulance service provided assistance at the scene. The name of the deceased will be released once preliminary autopsy and family notification has taken place.
