Popular Delta Airfares No Longer Available in Minnesota
If you've tried to book a flight out of Minnesota on Delta Air Lines recently, you might have noticed that these popular fares aren't available anymore. Here's what happened!
Chances are, if you're flying out of Minnesota, you'll likely be onboard a Delta Air Lines flight. Delta is based in Atlanta, Georgia, but its second-largest hub is here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP). While 18 different airlines offer service at MSP, Delta by far offers the most. And I still kind of think of Delta as a 'Minnesota' airline, seeing as it merged with Minnesota's Eagan-based Northwest Airlines back in 2008.
Delta says it runs nearly 330 departures from MSP to 119 destinations across the globe, offering nonstop service to international destinations like Amsterdam, Paris, London, Seoul, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico City, Tokyo-Haneda and more.

Delta also serves multiple cities in Canada from MSP, including Montréal, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Toronto, and is currently the only carrier at MSP to provide nonstop service to Asia, it says.
But no matter where you're going on Delta, you'll find that some popular fares, like Delta Basic Economy, Delta Comfort Plus, and Delta First Class, are now no longer available, both here in Minnesota and across all the airports Delta serves. They were all scrubbed from the Delta website as of Thursday, May 15, 2025, Delta said.
Those fares aren't going away, however-- only those familiar names are; they're all now called something different. Delta announced the changes on its corporate website a few days ago, noting that 'Starting May 15 for flights on or after Oct. 1, we’ll begin offering a combination of products and experiences that give you more choice and control over your journey than ever before,' it said.
Specifically, here's what is changing:
Delta’s seat products will now be classified into the following categories: Delta Main (formerly Main Cabin), Delta Comfort (formerly Delta Comfort+®), Delta First (Formerly First Class), Delta Premium Select, and Delta One.
Travel site Thrifty Traveler also noted that the changes weren't just on the Delta main website, but elsewhere as well, including 'the fine print in the airline's contract of carriage. It's even carried over to Google Flights and other sites,' Thrifty Traveler noted.
So keep these changes in mind if you're flying on Delta soon, so you don't end up with the wrong airfare! And, if you *are* flying soon, keep in mind that you can't do better than MSP. Did you know MSP was once again named the best airport in North America for the third year in a row? This most recent award makes the seventh time in the last eight years it has won that distinction. Have a great trip!
