The new roundabout at Highways 14 and 42 in Eyota opened over the weekend, and while I haven't driven that one yet, I have used the roundabout on Highway-63 and 75th Street northeast of Rochester, and I don't know about you, but I like them.

Here are the details surrounding the opening of the new roundabout in Eyota. Roundabouts are becoming more and more common here in upper Midwest. Back in Eau Claire, where I used to live, there have been several built recently. While they do take a little getting used to, I find myself liking them.

A former co-worker of mine works for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and when they first started to appear in western Wisconsin, I joked that they seemed like a new fad-- but something that would be torn out in about 20 years. Authorities say, though, they're much safer than traditional intersections. So it looks like they're here to stay.

I like them, though, because they keep traffic moving. The last thing we need are traffic lights-- nothing gets my blood pressure up more than waiting for another red light to turn green, especially when there's no traffic coming from the other direction!

But, what say you? Do you like traffic roundabouts? (Cast your vote below...)
