Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester firefighters responded to a report of a house on fire early Saturday near Mayo High School.

Fire Department Captain Holly Mulholland says the fire was reported just before 1 AM at 1021 13th Street South by a neighbor. A police officer was the first to arrive at the scene and indicated flames were visible inside the home after confirming all of the occupants and pets were out of the house.

The first firefighters to arrive noted smoke was coming from the single-level home and were able to use a fire extinguisher to put out the flames. After verifying the fire was extinguished, fire crews ventilated the house and called in an investigator to search for the cause, which remains under investigation.

Captain Mulholland’s report indicates there was fire damage on the main level of the home, along with smoke and water damage. The total loss was estimated at $15,000.
