Spring is usually the season when a young man's thoughts turn to love, but fall is the time if you're an elk, apparently. And, when an female elk spurns your advances, you get a little jealous of whatever is nearby-- including a police car.

Now while we have plenty of bucks here in Minnesota who are no doubt on the prowl this time of year for a lovely doe, we don't have too many elk. (Moose up north? Sure, but not many elk, I'm guessing.) Out in Jefferson County, Colorado, they do.

And when this spurned male elk saw the object of his affection jump a fence to where this Jefferson County Sheriff's Department squad car was parked, he did what any self-respecting male elk would do: he got jealous of the squad, thinking it was a fellow suitor, and attacked it. Really. Love does make you do strange things, doesn't it?
