Here's what a weekend on the Southern Minnesota Beer Trail looks like. You can thank the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild for this fabulous itinerary.

The best way to hit some fantastic local brews is by starting in Rochester. Kinney Creek Brewery, the first brewery in Rochester since Prohibition, serves ten beers in addition to a rotating list of limited, seasonal styles. It is a must-visit in the area!

Other great stops in the city include:

• Forager Brewing Company
• LTS Brewing
• Grand Rounds Brewing
• Little Thistle Brewing
• Thesis Beer Project

The next major stop on the list is the Mankato Brewery, home to some very well-known brews. This brewery often hosts food trucks and live music.

Some neat places along the way from Rochester to Mankato include:

• Waseca's Ward House Brewery
• Waseca's Half Pint Brewing Company

The next significant destination is in New Ulm, with the major highlight, of course, being Schell's Brewery. This brewery is the second-oldest family-owned brewery in America! It's a big deal. You can even tour the grounds during your visit. (I highly recommend it!)

Now, you can end your adventure in Marshall, that is: if you're still okay to drive, or you can head west for one more stop. Brau Bros. Brewing Co. is a Marshall staple. Its taproom houses an old-fashioned fire truck equipped with multiple taps. If you'd like to journey onward, you can head to Hendricks to visit Bank Brewing Company.
