Say Farewell to Rochester’s Friedell Middle School Tomorrow from 5 – 8 PM
Say Farewell Friedell Middle School!
Two years ago the Rochester Public School Board voted to repurpose Friedell Middle School at the end of the 2021-2022 school year and, believe it or not, that time is here.
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - One more academic year. That’s the future now facing Friedell Middle School after the Rochester School Board Tuesday approved a recommendation to close the site...Keeping the school open would have cost the district an extra $1.4-million per year.
Current plans call for repurposing the building for the Rochester Academy for Independent Living and school gymnastics. Read More: Rochester School Board Votes To Close Friedell Middle School
Levi Lundak, the Friedell Middle School Principal, announced a celebration event for prior and current students, family, and staff. Wednesday evening, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, the free event will include food trucks, entertainment, handprint and selfie stations, and more (I always hope the "more" will be an impromptu Lady Gaga concert or flying monkeys...it never is, but I can keep hoping).
Read about it: Betsy Singer is leaving ABC 6 News!
The parking lot isn't huge, and Friedell staff ask that the space be reserved for those with mobility issues. Everyone else, please park south of Denny's in the park-and-ride lots.
