Fire Breaks Out Inside Rural Byron Shed
Byron, MN (KROC AM News) - A fire caused unknown damage to a rural Byron shed Monday morning - about 12 hours after an earlier fire inside the same building.
The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office says Byron firefighters were called to the Joshua Wharton residence in the 1700 block of 19th Ave NW around 6:30 PM Sunday. He called 911 after smelling smoke. It was discovered an electrical wire in the building’s attic space had been chewed by a suspected rodent and the bare wires had started a small fire. Damage was limited to some rafters.
Around 6:30 AM Monday, Wharton found the shed was burning and called 911 again. Fire crews from Byron and Kasson battled the blaze in bitterly cold weather. The extent of damage and the cause is unknown.
