Not because of Covid but a fire.

It broke out in the school’s cafeteria ceiling area around 8:00 pm Wednesday.

Red Wing fire crews had it under control in about 15 minutes. The Red Wing Fire Dept. says the building “sustained minor fire and smoke damage” and there were no injuries. No damage estimate was given.

Red Wing Schools Superintendent Karsten Anderson says preliminary information indicates the cause of the fire was a lighting ballast above the lunchroom.
