Now that it's March, it won't be too long before warmer weather hits southeast Minnesota (we hope!), and with it, could come something new to downtown Rochester: food trucks!

But there are several questions surrounding the appearance of food trucks in the Med City this year. A story in the Med City Beat Tuesday looked into the topic, and said that the Rochester City Council brought up food trucks at its meeting last week, and discussed several issues surrounding their pending appearance this year in downtown Rochester.

Yet to be settled by the Council are tricky things like, where food trucks will be allowed to set up, how strict city ordinances governing food trucks will be, and which vendors will apply for food truck permits, the story said.

The Council commissioned a survey last fall that asked Rochester residents if they wanted food trucks downtown, and, according to the story, there was "overwhelming public support" for allowing food trucks to operate in downtown Rochester.  But where, exactly, they'll be allowed to set-up remains up in the air right now.

According to the story, "Some of the possible locations being discussed for food trucks include Second Avenue SW south of Second Street, as well Central Park (both Mayor Ardell Brede and City Council President Randy Staver expressed support for the latter location; however, Wojcik commented the park is the 'location somebody who would not eat at a food truck would pick')."

The story also noted that the City Council is set to take up the issue again at its March 21st meeting. Where would you like to see food trucks operating in downtown Rochester this year?
