The Golden Gopher football team has moved higher in the national rankings.

The latest AP Top 25 poll has the University of Minnesota at 17 this week, while the new Coaches Poll has the Gophers ranked 16th. Both national polls had the U of M at number 20 last week

The 17th ranking in the AP Poll is the highest for Minnesota since the team was listed at number 13 on October 3, 2004. The last time the Gophers made it into the top 25 was in 2014.

After winning Saturday at Rutgers, the Gophers are undefeated with 7 victories this season and have now won 9 straight games. The win streak is tied with Baylor for the 4th longest in the nation. The last time the University of Minnesota enjoyed a 9 game winning streak was during the 1941-1942 seasons.

This is also the first time the U of M has started a season with 7 straight victories since 1960 and the first time the Gophers have had a 4-0 record in the Big Ten since 1967.
