The results come from a May 18th-20th poll, from 800 registered Minnesota voters, that was put together by the Star Tribune, Kare 11, and MPR News. Out of those who voted, 65% approve of Governor Walz, while 30% did not. Since the last poll in February, Walz's approval rating has increased by 9% as well as his disapproval rating increasing by 5%. The poll had a 3.5% margin of error.

While the poll ended on May 20th, Walz has taken some criticism, for his ruling on restaurants and bars only being allowed to open to outdoor seating and originally stating that churches and other places of worship would not be allowed to open yet. On May 23rd, Walz signed an executive order, followed by discussions with church leaders, that places of worship would be allowed to reopen to 25% capacity.

In the same poll, it found that 59% of Minnesotans approve of a mail in vote for the November election while 37% did not. While also split in to 3 categories, 97% of Democrats, 49% of Independent, and 23% of Republicans back mail in voting.
