If you were in downtown Rochester Tuesday night or early Wednesday, you might have noticed the iconic Mayo Clinic Plummer Building lit up in blue. Here's why..

As it turns out, one of Rochester's most historic building is joining other landmarks across Minnesota (as well as other states in the upper Midwest) in going blue in honor of March being Colorectal Awareness Month.

This KARE-11 story notes that 93 other buildings here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes also went blue Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, including Target Field and the IDS Center in Minneapolis; the Enger Tower in Duluth, and Lincoln Plaza in St. Cloud.

Here in Rochester, the Plummer Building's going blue was just one part of the activities as the Mayo campus in Rochester continues to highlight Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. According to this Mayo News Network story, there was also the Strollin' Colon Cancer Awareness and Education Event in the Gonda Building on Monday. And, there are other activities planned for the rest of the week, as well. (You can get all the details HERE.)

The goal of the week, the story noted, was to educate Minnesotans from all corners of the state about the importance of colorectal cancer screening, while showing support for patients, survivors, and their caregivers. You can get more information about the week's activities across Minnesota HERE.
