Heads up if you've got fur babies!  A recall has been issued on a variety of dog food products produced by Fromm Family Foods due to the possibility of elevated levels of Vitamin D.  These products were sold in stores throughout MinnesotaIowaWisconsin, Illinois, and nationwide.

5,500 cases of dog food voluntarily recalled due to elevated levels of Vitamin D

According to FDA.gov, a voluntary recall has been issued of approximately 5,500 cases for the following dog foods produced by Fromm Family Foods:

  • Four-Star SHREDDED BEEF IN GRAVY ENTRÉE food for dogs,
    • 12 cans per case, 11877,  12 oz. per can, UPC 7270511876, Best By Date 082024

Symptoms that may appear in dogs that ingest elevated levels of Vitamin D

According to the recall notice at fda.gov, dogs may experience the following symptoms if they consume products that have elevated levels of Vitamin D:

  • vomiting,
  • loss of appetite,
  • increased thirst,
  • increased urination,
  • excessive drooling,
  • and weight loss.
  • very high levels of Vitamin D can lead to serious health issues including renal dysfunction.
