This CBS-Minnesota story says the latest recall involves the Hungry Man 'Chicken Wyngz' Meal is the latest food to be recalled by the FDA over salmonella fears related to whey powder.

The meals have a 'best by' date of 9/6/19 but were most likely only sold to areas of the country that include Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Virginia, so it probably isn't a huge concern here in Minnesota.

But it's just the latest in a string of recalls that include salmonella scares in products such as Goldfish crackersRitz crackers and Taco Bell cheese dip. And there IS a Minnesota connection to all of them.

The whey powder used in making all those products has been traced back to a Minnesota company. Another CBS-Minnesota story explains.

"New-Ulm based Associated Milk Producers Incorporate, or AMPI, is recalling dry whey powder produced between May and mid-June over salmonella concerns. The powder is made at the company’s factory in Blair, Wisconsin. The bacteria can make its way into packaged foods that are made with the powder," the story noted.

The story went on to say that the whey powder in question isn't sold directly to consumers, but is sold to manufacturers who use it as an ingredient in a variety of food products.

Luckily, so far no one has become ill from any of these recalls-- even if the potential culprit DID come from here in Minnesota.
