It’s Only April and 6 Rochester Stores Are Closing This Year
It seems like every week we are making an announcement about another store closing in Rochester. Just four months into the year, and we are seeing a tremendous loss throughout the city.
HERBERGER'S
A huge and fast-moving closure of the Herberger's store in the mall. The rumors began earlier this week, and it was made official Wednesday - the company was sold to liquidation, and ALL Herberger's and Younker's location are set to close. The Rochester store is beginning their "Going Out of Business Sale" today (Friday, April 20th).
FISH & PETS
The locally owned pet store called it quits in February when the owners (Greg and Deb Goodnow) announced their plans for retirement.
TOYS "R" US
Toys "R" Us confirmed in March that they were closing all of their U.S. stores after filing bankruptcy in 2017. Minnesota is (or more appropriately WAS) home to five Toys "R" Us stores.
BEST BUY MOBILE
Another Apache Mall store - Best Buy Mobile. They're closing all of its 250 outlets across the country, including all 11 found in Minnesota
EVENSON'S HALLMARK SHOP
A staple in the Apache Mall for over 50 years. They went out of business in February.
FOOTLOCKER
After closing more than 100 stores in 2017, Rochester said farewell to our Apache Mall location earlier this year.
Rumored Closings:
BED BATH & BEYOND
While this store isn't closed, they are reportedly in serious trouble and on the brink of closing. According to a CNBC article, they could start aggressively closing stores in the near future. Bed Bath & Beyond's stock price has fallen 23 percent in the last month. It has dropped 74 percent in the last five years.
