To put together this list, they used data from the FBI. They looked at crime in 2024 to put together this list, and then also looked at the year prior to see what had changed over the course of a year.

Some interesting findings from the study overall? Simple assault was the most common criminal offense in the entire country, with over two million incidents in 2024. That is a really sad statistic.

It was the number one crime in 28 states, which is definitely a staggering statistic. It was not the most common crime in Minnesota, however. The second? Destruction, damage or vandalism of property.
