We just had one heck of a February storm. Hovland, Minnesota, may have just set a new record with over 38 inches of snow. We're waiting to hear if the National Weather Service in Duluth will confirm it was the most snow in a 24-hour period of time.

The North Shore had many places with over a foot and a half of snow, and 50+ MPH winds made some very deep drifts. Not only did schools shut down, but many businesses posted on social media updates that they would not be opening for the day. Who can blame them? Nobody was really leaving the house anyway, right?

I saw the Other Place Bar & Grill in Woodland was buried! What a pain to shovel that out!

The Superior Middle School had some huge drifts blow up to the main entrance. Obviously, school was cancelled. Maybe Thursday should have been Bring Your Shovel to School Day.

The most snow in the region came near Grand Marais and up the North Shore. Here are some posts that stopped me from scrolling from WTIP North Shore Community Radio.

And then there's my favorite image of Abram from Cove Point Lodge (near Beaver Bay), standing in armpit deep snow.

You can watch the video on the Cove Point Lodge Facebook page. You'll get a better idea of how chaotic that wind off the lake was.

Good luck to those people still digging out. Be careful, this heavy, wet snow can do a number on folks.
