Old Farmers Almanac Offers Spring Weather Predictions For Minnesota
I really thought we made it! I should have known better. I thought for sure that spring was here to stay when we had a mini heatwave coming our way late last week in Minnesota. Sadly, it was short-lived and winter returned.
I should have known that we wouldn't be that spoiled. It's been a pretty intense winter in the Northland and it looks like that is hanging on for a little bit longer. Spring will be here at some point and hopefully it is soon.

A good way to tell that spring is close or at least a good way to get through the tail-end of winter here is when Gordy's Hi-Hat announces their grand opening for the season. The Cloquet staple is a tradition in our neck of the woods and will be open on the 25th.
What does the Old Farmer's Almanac have to say? The publication always reveals its predictions for the season ahead and they just did so, releasing their thoughts just last week.

On the other side of things, the western part of the region, which includes the Northland, will be warmer than usual but also wetter than normal, which means more snow and rain could be on the way. It looks like we will get a little bit of everything. Yay?
As always, this is a long-term prediction for each region and not one that is day-to-day. They have never publicly announced their formula but it does involve solar science, climatology and meteorology.

This outlook is especially helpful for gardeners and those that work outdoors so they can plan ahead for how things might turn out a bit in advance. However, as always, take this with a grain of salt. I will believe spring is here when I see it because I keep falling for the fool's spring whenever it is nice out for a few days!
