Minnesotans Can’t Believe This Popular Attraction Is Still FREE
When it comes to looking for something fun to do, cost is often a prohibitive factor for many, especially in today's world. But there are still some fun, free things to do, and one of the best is right here in Minnesota.
It's rare to find a quality, free attraction in 2025. Most attractions require a ticket or at least a parking fee, but there are still places where you can enjoy an adventurous outing without spending a dime.

Free Fun in Minnesota That Stands Out
Let's be clear: you'll likely still spend some money during your visit, whether it's on food or souvenirs. But Minnesota is home to a world-class attraction that offers an experience you can't get anywhere else, completely free, including parking.
USA Today is holding its annual Reader's Choice Awards, asking readers to vote for the best free attraction in the country. They've nominated 20 iconic free destinations across the U.S., and voting will determine the top 10.
Who’s on the List From Minnesota?
Among the nominees are legendary spots like the Golden Gate Bridge, the National Mall in Washington D.C., Niagara Falls State Park, and the Redwood National and State Parks.
Also included on the list are three zoos: the Smithsonian's National Zoo, the Cape May County Park & Zoo in New Jersey, and Minnesota's own Como Park Zoo & Conservatory in Saint Paul.
USA Today calls Como Park Zoo “amazing,” highlighting its unique collection of animals, including cougars, gorillas, flamingos, and other exotic creatures from around the world.

They also praise the conservatory, where visitors can enjoy a “gorgeous public garden full of orchids, palms, and lilies,” along with a magical butterfly garden that feels like something out of a storybook.
Voting is open until Monday, June 16. The top 10 best free attractions in America will be announced on Wednesday, June 25.
