Downtown Movie Business In St. Cloud Announces It’s Closing
A downtown St. Cloud business has announced it would be liquidating its inventory and closing. It's sad news for fans of movie rentals, as Movies Etc announced the closing sale on social media earlier this month.
The post from May 8th reads:
After 22 years of renting movies we have decided to close the rental portion of our business. All movies and games are for sale. Over 12,000 movies available.
Thank you to all of our fantastic customers for your patronage over the years.
The announcement does stress that the adjacent business Malibu Tan would still be open.
The closure leaves St. Cloud with just Redbox rental options according to a Google search, you can see the results below.
Growing up my family had the tradition that on a Friday night we'd get to go and rent a movie, or two, and then we'd pop some popcorn and sit down and watch whatever film we had agreed to rent.
Later on, when I entered high school my local video rental store became the place I'd go to rent WWE wrestling Pay-Per-Views.
I never had the chance to stop out at Movies Etc since I've been to St. Cloud, but I'm a little sad knowing it's going away, like so many other video rental businesses before it.
Do yourself a favor, before the doors are closed for good, head on over and pick up a few movies, order a pizza, pop some popcorn, and hit play.
