Rochester Man Busted With Cocaine While on Supervised Release for Drug Conviction

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man who previously spent time in prison for a drug conviction is facing new charges.

A criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court on Friday, indicates the new case stems from the execution of a search warrant at his home last month. 

Court records indicate he was on supervised release at the time of the raid. The criminal complaint alleges he sold drugs to a Rochester police informant who was part of a controlled buy conducted by law enforcement. 

Search Warrant Leads to Cocaine Discovery at Rochester Man's Home

33-year-old Steven Bounkoa Voeun is charged with one count each of first-degree drug sales and first-degree drug possession. The court document states Rochester police executed a search warrant at his home on January 13.

Investigators found seven bags containing cocaine during the search, the complaint says. Six were located inside of a safe and another was found in a jacket pocket. 

Authorities also found $7,627 in cash inside of the jacket pocket. The complaint states the combined weight of the cocaine was 203.3 grams. 

Court records indicate Voeun was initially given a stayed 25-year prison sentence in 2017 for a second-degree drug sales conviction in Olmsted County.

He was resentenced to four years in prison in 2023 for convictions in a robbery case and drug possession case. Department of Corrections records say Voeun was released into supervision last September. 

Voeun’s bail was set at $250,000 without conditions following his first court appearance Friday morning. He is due back in court later this month.
