Deputy Captures Fleeing Rochester Drunk Driving Suspect

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A deputy chased down and captured a suspected drunk driver near Rochester Wednesday night.

That’s according to Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Captain Tim Parkin. He said the ordeal began with an attempted traffic stop shortly before midnight. 

The deputy attempted to pull over the driver, later identified as 33-year-old Corwinn Thurman, in the area of Collegeview Dr. Southeast and Hwy. 14 on suspicion of impaired driving. 

The vehicle driven by the Rochester man did not stop and drove for a while, Parkin said. Eventually Thurman stopped the vehicle, got out then took off on foot.

The deputy gave chase and captured Thurman to end the foot pursuit. He was then taken to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center

Thurman refused to cooperate with deputies and did not submit to any kind of impaired driving testing, according to the sheriff's office's report. 

Thurman was arrested on suspicion of first-degree DWI, fleeing an officer on foot and other charges, Parkin said.
