Bloomington, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred early Saturday morning in Bloomington.

Two SUVs and Semitruck Involved

The preliminary crash report indicates the deadly incident involved two SUVs and a semi-truck that were all traveling westbound on I-494 at the Highway 100 interchange. The State Patrol says the crash was reported just before 4:20 a.m. Saturday.

State Patrol Releases Preliminary Details

According to the State Patrol, the two SUVs made contact in the center-right lane of the freeway. One of the vehicles came to a stop in the right lane near some construction cones, while the other came to rest in the left lane with the front end of the SUV against the median wall.

That's when a westbound semitruck crashed into the SUV next to the median wall, sending the smaller vehicle spinning in the left lane of the highway. The State Patrol report indicates the driver of the semitruck was able to stop on the right shoulder of the freeway.

Identities of Victims Not Yet Released

The State Patrol has not released the names of the people involved in the crash. A 49-year-old man from Ham Lake was driving the semitruck, and a 64-year-old man from Shakopee was behind the wheel of the SUV that was struck by the truck.

The second SUV involved in the crash was driven by a 25-year-old man from Bloomington, who had a 25-year-old female passenger from Shakopee.

At this time, the State Patrol has only indicated that a fatality occurred as a result of the crash and has not provided any information about who was killed or the extent of the injuries suffered by the other people involved in the incident.
