Former Pine Island Teacher Admits to Sexually Assaulting Student

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Pine Island School District teacher and coach today entered a guilty plea to a first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge involving a former student.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, 25-year-old Lindsey Rose Schneeberger admitted to the charge in exchange for the dismissal of two additional first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges. She is scheduled to be sentenced in April. The Olmsted County Attorney's Office previously filed a notice of intent to seek an aggravated sentence in the case, but that has also been dropped as part of the plea deal.

Schneeberger was accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young girl, beginning when she was 13 years old. She was arrested in May of last year after the student's mother reported that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by the former educator. Court records say the mother alerted authorities after she had discovered suspicious text messages from Schneeberger and confronted her daughter about them

According to the criminal complaint, the sexual assaults occurred multiple times between April and May of last year at Schneeberger's residence in Rochester. The young victim later gave a statement to investigators and described the illegal sexual conduct in graphic detail.

At the time of her arrest, the Pine Island School District website indicated Schneeberger taught middle school physical education and coached 7th-grade volleyball. Court documents say Schneeberger resigned from her teaching position in March 2023.
