Iowa Murder Suspect Captured in Southern Minnesota
Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man wanted for a murder in northern Iowa was apprehended Saturday night in Freeborn County.
The Hancock Iowa Sheriff's Office says deputies were sent to a home in Woden Iowa around 11 o'clock Saturday morning to conduct a welfare check. After entering the residence, they found an unresponsive woman who was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as 56-year-old Karen Abby Crews.
A news release says her estranged husband, 56-year-old Roger Laverne Crews, was arrested without incident in Freeborn County around 8:30 Saturday evening. At the last report, Crews was being held in the Freeborn County Jail pending extradition to Iowa to face first-degree murder and other charges.
Woden Iowa is a small town with fewer than 200 residents and is located about 35 miles southwest of Albert Lea.
