Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Police Department has announced the arrest of a motorist suspected of shooting at two vehicles in less than 12 hours.

Both of the drive-by shootings occurred in northwest Rochester. The first happened around 8:45 Monday night and the second occurred around 8:00 Tuesday morning. 

Both vehicles targeted by the gunfire were occupied. The shootings happened in the same neighborhood, police said. 

Motorist Fires Gun at Two Vehicles in Less Than 12 Hours in Same Northwest Rochester Neighborhood

Monday night’s shooting happened in the area of 22nd Avenue and 48th Street Northwest. 

A motorist told police they were shot at by a man in a vehicle who was following the victim and fired a gun at him as the victim and suspect vehicles were moving.

The second shooting was reported in the area of 22nd Ave. and 48th St. Northwest. 

A woman told police she and three children were in a vehicle traveling south on 22nd Ave. Northwest when a man in a different vehicle heading north shot at them near 42nd St. Northwest. 

Rochester Police Arrest and ID Suspect in Northwest Rochester Neighborhood Shootings

On Friday Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator announced the arrest of the suspected gunman. He is identified as 31-year-old Keywan Johnson of Rochester.

Olmsted County Adult Detention Center records indicate Johnson was booked into the Olmsted County Jail shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday. Grayson said Johnson was arrested in the area of Sandbar Court Northeast after a brief foot pursuit. 

No injuries were reported in the shootings. Johnson is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday morning.
