Hollins was formally charged with felony escape from custody for the September 16 incident on September 23. Hollins was receiving medical care at the hospital while in the custody of the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.

The criminal complaint says Hollins ran out of a room and into the hallway while a detention deputy was adjusting his restraints so he could use the bathroom.

The deputy chased him down and tackled him. The two collided with a nurse who was in the hallway and the nurse fell and hit head on the floor, causing him to suffer a brain bleed, the court document says.

Clint Peterson's Recovery from Brain Bleed and Skull Fracture

The nurse has been identified as 26-year-old Clint Peterson. A GoFundMe Fundraiser says he was rushed into surgery to treat the brain bleed and a skull fracture.

An update to the fundraiser says Peterson has since returned home but still is facing a challenging recovery.

As of September 28, Peterson uses a walker with a person to assist or a wheelchair to get around his home.

He also has no sense of taste or smell, experiencing nausea and is dealing with altered hearing, describing hearing echoes and constant ringing, according to the fundraiser.

“I got a chance to spend a few days with Clint this past weekend, and it was honestly really hard seeing how much he is still dealing with,” Peterson’s friend since kindergarten Matt Wurst wrote last month.

Peterson has since started therapy, the GoFundMe indicates.
