One of Rochester, Minnesota’s Newest Coffee Shops is Now Closed

Just as the pumpkin spice latte season started, one of Rochester, Minnesota's coffee shops announced that it closed.

Two things Rochester has a lot of...banks and coffee shops.  One of those helps me make money and the other takes my money.  The magic that happens during my radio show while I am juggling life as a working mom is only possible because of coffee.

Unfortunately, one of the spots where coffee is poured into a magical cup for me to sip out of is no longer around.

Bad Ass Coffee Now Closed in Rochester, Minnesota

Back in May of 2022, Bad Ass Coffee opened at 1529 Highway 14 East, Suite #100, in the same strip mall as Little Caesar's and the UPS Store.  It offered a great menu and even had a drive-thru for guests to use easily.  I remember my first visit there to meet the owners and loved the whole atmosphere.  Most importantly though, the coffee was phenomenal.

Unfortunately, that specific smooth taste of Bad Ass Coffee is no longer possible in Rochester.  According to the following note on the door of the location by Planet Fitness, they are officially closed.

"Bad Ass Coffee will be CLOSED as of saturday august 31st, at 4pm

Another Coffee Shop In This Same Area of Rochester Has Already Closed

This area of Rochester was quite the hot spot for coffee shops for a few years.  Within walking distance of Bad Ass Coffee were two other coffee shops:

• Due North Coffee Co. - Back in February 2021, we heard the news that Due North Coffee Co. was opening in the Air Insanity parking lot.  You can still find that custom ice shack there ready to serve up a hot cup of coffee to you.

At the end of January 2024, it appeared that Due North Coffee Co. closed for good.  I reached out to them for comment but never got a response.

• Caribou Cabin - Rochester's most adorable coffee shop, Caribou Cabin, also opened across the street.  It is in the same parking lot as Cub Foods and Planet Fitness.
