A northbound SUV and southbound car collided near the highway’s intersection with Houston County Rd. 20, according to the state crash report.

Hokah, MN (KROC-AM News)- Two motorists were hospitalized after a crash on a southeast Minnesota highway over the weekend.

The State Patrol responded to the two-vehicle crash shortly after 10:30 Sunday night. 

The drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles. Alcohol use is suspected, the State Patrol says.

Two Women from Caledonia Injured in Alcohol-Involved Crash on Hwy. 44 Sunday Night

The two-vehicle collision occurred on Hwy. 44 about 11 miles southwest of La Crescent.

The report does not say whether one or both of the vehicles were in the wrong lane.

70-year-old Anne Lee of Caledonia was identified as the SUV driver and the State Patrol identified the car driver as 38-year-old Kayla Rose Connor of Caledonia. 

Both women suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to a Mayo Health System hospital for further care, according to the State Patrol. 

Lee and Connor were both wearing their seatbelts and both had alcohol in their systems at the time of the crash, the state crash report says.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office and Hokah Fire Department also responded to the two-vehicle crash.
