Shortages are Predicted and Prices Are Expected To Increase for Popular Grocery Item in Illinois

Since March 2020, the word "shortages" and "inflation" have become everyday words for our world.  Standing in line for toilet paper, hearing about people stealing meat due to the price tag, and seeing prices rise on a huge chunk of items in the aisles at the store is how we function now.  Plain and simple, life is more expensive than it was a few years ago.  Unfortunately, it appears that another shortage and price increase is ahead.

Egg Prices Expected to Increase Even More in Illinois and Throughout the Country

According to CNN, the price we've had to pay for eggs has been increasing for months and it has the potential to get much more expensive.

In the story, it mentioned that one of the largest egg producers in the United States, Cal-Maine, had to selectively slaughter around 1.6 million hens after a positive test for bird flu was made.  In addition to the hens, another 337,000 young chickens were also eliminated.  This company, which controls close to 20% of the market, indicated that production has stopped temporarily.
