This Huge Rochester Music Festival Is Ending After This Year

One of my favorite events in Rochester just shared some very sad news to its fans.  If you haven't had a chance to attend this annual event in the Med City - you'll want to grab tickets asap before they sell out.  Unfortunately, it sounds like this is going to be the final year.

Sad News From Organizers of Major Music Event In Rochester, Minnesota

Back in 2023, I wrote a story about Rochester Thaw, which is a huge music festival featuring multiple bands and artists at several local venues in the Med City.  This year, it is happening on March 21st, 2026.  If live music excites you, THIS is a ticket that is well worth the money.

When Y-105FM helped promote this event in the past, tickets sold out extremely fast...which makes sense.  Our Townsquare Media radio stations are where 70% of those listening to radio in Southeast Minnesota are tuning in to and, well, we support local and play music.

I'm sure that this will once again sell out due to the latest message from the organizers.  But...if you want to attend and you still don't have a ticket...I'd hop over to their website ASAP and grab one.

The sad news that just surfaced about Rochester Thaw was the following:

Rochester Thaw Just Announced That This Is The Final Year For The Festival In Rochester, Minnesota

The note on Facebook went on to explain that a tough decision had been made to end Rochester Thaw after the March 21st performance.

After a great deal of reflection and discussion among the entire My Town My Music team, we have made the decision that the upcoming Rochester Thaw Music Festival on March 21 will be the final year of the event. This was not a decision made lightly, but one that we feel is the best choice for our team, and the event at this time.

Why Is The Rochester Thaw Music Festival Ending?

If you have attended Rochester Thaw in the past, you had a chance to experience the magnitude of this event.  You also were a witness to so many in the community that support this event.  What you couldn't see are the following challenges that were explained further in the note on social media.

Producing an event of this scale is incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with its challenges.  Balancing planning alongside full-time jobs, families, and life in general can be a lot for a small team like ours.  There are also many external factors beyond our control that add additional complexity to producing an event like this. As we looked ahead, the future became more uncertain than it has been in the past, and in an effort to take care of the well-being of our team, we felt this was the right time to bring the festival to a close.

Celebrate The Rochester Thaw Music Festival One Last Time on March 21st, 2026

The My Town My Music Team has a goal this year "to celebrate everything this event has become one last time." 

30 performers will be on stage at multiple locations in town for one final day.  Enjoy the lineup, the venues, the partners, sponsors, and the fans who show up next to you on this final Rochester Thaw Music Festival.

As they said in their note to fans, "let's have one hell of a party in a few weeks."
