Zollman Zoo in Minnesota Temporarily Shutting Down for 2 Weeks

Heads up! One of the local fun spots for families in Southeast Minnesota is going to be temporarily closed starting Monday, September 25th.

Southeast Minnesota Zoo Temporarily Closing on Monday, September 25th

One of the hidden gems in Southeast Minnesota is Zollman Zoo in Byron, Minnesota. I say "hidden" because it is tucked on the edge of Oxbow Park. You could drive by the entrance and not even know that a bunch of really amazing animals were just a few minutes away down the road.

Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo is one of the free places in the area where you can go, explore, see animals up close, and even enjoy an outdoor classroom. (If you've never been there, we've got a few photos below to enjoy.)

If you were planning an outing at Zollman Zoo in the next two weeks, you may want to reschedule. They just informed the public on their Facebook page that they are temporarily closing.

The Zollman Zoo will be temporarily CLOSED starting Monday, September 25 for approximately two weeks. We will be closing for the safety of visitors while the paths in the zoo are blacktopped. The Nature Center will remain open for regular hours, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm daily and the greater park areas is open 5:00 am - 10:00 pm. Public Programming will go on as scheduled, check Facebook for details. Reopening of the Zoo will be posted on social media and the Olmsted County website.

Outdoor Classroom Fun in Byron, Minnesota

If you've got kids, I highly recommend heading out to let your little ones explore the outdoor classroom that is right next to the parking lot by Zollman Zoo in Byron, Minnesota. It is A-Maz-Ing! Tunnels, musical instruments, planets that you have to find, and even a teeter-totter made out of a log is there to enjoy. Probably one of my favorites though is what I call "Little Bean".
