I've never experienced raising a teenager myself but I've heard plenty of stories. I was also a teen myself so I have an idea of how difficult teens can be.

I came across the best places to raise teenagers in Minnesota and I decided I needed to share. Either this is bragging rights because your family already lives in one of these areas. Or if you're contemplating a move this could be your sign.

How to Find the Best Neighborhoods to Raise a Family

The survey was done by real estate website Movoto. They said that an area that's great for raising teens includes:

"good schools, low crime, sports and community activities, and good home values"

Sounds like solid metrics to me! After studying all of the data they accumulated, they determined the best places to raise teenagers in Minnesota.

6. Woodbury

Woodbury has great high schools that offer award-winning studies, according to Motovo. They also mention that there are plenty of community activities hosted each year that can get teens out of the house and doing something fun.

5. Shoreview

Shoreview also has great schools plus many things for teens to get out and do. They've got great parks and a really nice-looking community center. It's also located right in between Minneapolis and St. Paul so there are lots of options close by.


4. Mahtomedi

Mahtomedi is also a suburb of the Twin Cities. They have great school sports that teens can get involved in. Plus, Motovo reports that about 27% of the population is under 18, so there would be plenty of other teens to hang out with.


3. Maple Grove

Another really nice place to raise teens is Maple Grove. There are lots of things to do, including WhirlyBall. I'm pretty sure this is the place my husband went to play once and it looks so fun! There's also a whole teen center at their community center with fun things to do. It would be a great way to get them out of the house and/or meet people.


2. Golden Valley

Golden Valley, another suburb of the Twin Cities, just misses out on the number one spot and comes in at number two. It's a nice town with great schools (public and private) that also have great athletics if that's what your teen is into. And since it's around the Twin Cities there's plenty to do.

1. Eden Prairie

And the number one spot goes to Eden Prairie as the best place to raise teenagers in Minnesota. There are tons of outdoor areas in the area for teens to get out and explore like bluffs, lakes, and plenty of green spaces. There are lots of school options, Motovo says there are 25. And on top of school activities, there are many community activities teens can partake in the area.
