The Best Spot for a Romantic Weekend Away in Minnesota
It doesn't matter how long you've been with your partner, you still need to be romantic every once in a while. Ignite that spark again! Lucky for you, I have the best spot for a romantic weekend getaway in Minnesota.
Plan a babysitter or drop the kids off at grandma and grandpa's, because you've got plans!
This study was done by Thrillist. They got their travel writers and editors to come up with the most romantic weekend getaway spot in each state. So let's check out what they have to say about our neighboring states in case you want your weekend away to be outside of state lines.
Wisconsin's Best Spot for a Romantic Weekend Getaway
According to the experts, the best romantic weekend getaway spot in Wisconsin is Kohler, WI.
No, not the faucet and sink brand, although that is where they're headquartered. And their headquarters also happens to be a very nice place where you can stay in while you're there.
It's called Destination Kohler and it has three different places you can stay. They all look super pretty!
They've got a spa, it looks like there's a sauna, and if it's nice out you can do yoga on the lake or hit up the golf course. They also have many dining options.
Iowa's Best Spot for a Romantic Weekend Getaway
Iowa's best romantic weekend getaway spot is Decorah.
Decorah is beautiful, surrounded by bluffs and some nice spots to hike. Thrillist also mentions that Hotel Winneshiek is the place to stay for your weekend away. It's in an old and beautiful building downtown.
Like I said, there are also plenty of beautiful hiking spots and there are also some great local restaurants and breweries to hit up, like Toppling Goliath, which is actually both a restaurant and brewery!
Minnesota's Best Spot for a Romantic Weekend Getaway
And finally, we have the best spot in Minnesota for a romantic weekend away. The spot that Thrillist picked is Lutsen, MN.
I know, super super sad that the Lutsen Resort caught fire recently, forcing them to close, but there are other amazing things to do in Lutsen. Obviously there are some great hiking areas to take advantage of and awesome views of Lake Superior.

Lutsen is also home to North Shore Winery, which I checked out myself a couple of years ago. Would definitely recommend!
There are also nice places to stay depending on what you're looking for. If you're going in the winter and want to ski, check out Eagle Ridge at Lutsen Mountains. Or if you're looking for Lake Superior views, check out Poplar River Condos. It's located right by the temporarily closed Lutsen Resort.
